The Basics

I enjoy playing around on my computer and flirting with technology a bit. When I’m not working I love to watch and follow sports, especially football, baseball and hockey. A lot of my free time is spent working out at the gym, and I’m constantly reading all the latest fitness news, research and books that I can get a hold of. I’m also a fan of fiction, particularly a good mystery. When the weather is nice here in Upstate NY I try to get out for some hiking, biking, and kayaking. Other random hobbies I’ve picked up on recently include studying Spanish, social dynamics, and body language.

How I Became a Blogger

In January of 2008, I decided to be a little less ignorant about web 2.0 and social media. While I had heard about many of the applications and services available, I hadn’t actually taken a look at many of them and figured it was about time to experience them firsthand before passing judgement.

What I’ve found is an amazing way to get in touch with a wide variety of people from around the globe. The possibilities seem infinite at this stage as I continue to experiment and try new things and connect with new people.

I read a few blogs discussing software and technology and find them useful for discovering various programs and utilities that I might otherwise have missed. One thing that I found missing oftentimes was personal testimonial, or someone saying “I use this program myself and I like this or that about it”. So I started throwing up a few blog posts myself with my personal (and sometimes biased) opinions.

The other thing I like to use this blog for is to comment about other topics like sports. Depending on who you follow, not all of your local friends are interested in hearing your breakdown of last nights game or the latest trade rumors. Putting those types of thoughts up on a blog seemed like a good way to connect with those people who would be interested.

    re: Tweet about blog content
In me humble opinion, can’t it be all of that? After all, it’s what YOU want it to be. Even if you write one line, it’s YOU. That’s what we want. One of the things I love about Twitter, is that I only have 140 characters. I tried doing a blog, but didn’t have the time to always opine on something meaningful. Twitter has allowed me to do what I’ve wanted to do, just “jot down” random thoughts. You have more than random thoughts. Write down long columns, medium-length opinions, and two-line thoughts. If that’s what’s floating around in the gray-matter, let that out.
